Shibari & Rope Intensive: Flow, Confidence, & Subtlety with Twisted Monk

Spend a full day immersed in rope and shibari with Midori in this rare, small-group intensive designed to deepen your skills, sharpen your intuition, and bring more artistry into your play. Over seven hours of hands-on instruction, you’ll work closely in a group limited to just eight pairs.

Whether you’re established partners or attending as a buddy team, this immersive day welcomes all experience levels with a simple and easy prerequisite.

Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to:

  • Get grounded, focused, and more body-aware so both you and your partner can enter a state of readiness for deeper, more connected rope play.
  • Use techniques that apply across countless ties and scenes—skills that stay with you long after this class.
  • Recognize the profound impact of subtle changes in touch, pacing, tension, and intention.
  • Build confidence and efficiency through guided exercises and flow drills you can continue practicing at home.
  • Better understand your partner’s body language and emotional responses to create safer, richer, and more attuned scenes.

Together, we’ll explore four interconnected modules that build confidence, creativity, and emotional presence:

Readying the Body & Mind.
Unpacking the Nuance.
Sensation, Emotion & Intention
Speed & Flow Drills.

PREREQUISITES FOR ALL ATTENDEES

Both people will need to know how to do a 1-column tie and a 2-column tie of any variety. You don’t have to be perfect.

WHAT TO BRING:

ROPE
(per pair)

There isn’t an absolute number or length of ropes to bring. This is because of several factors. Several of the exercises will require the attendees to make creative individual decisions, so each person will use a different number of ropes. Variation in the receiver’s body size and desired tension will affect the length and quantity of rope required

This is a basic suggestion for the minimum amount to bring. Bring more if you can.

  • 30’ rope, 2 to 3 hanks
  • 15’ rope, 3 to 5 hanks

Need Rope? Midori’s suggested rope vendors:

••

WHAT TO WEAR:
  • Comfortable clothing to move in.
  • Socks/sandals/slippers. No shoes in the rope area.
  • A sweater and/or layers. It’s an older building that, despite heaters, can get drafty. You can expect temperatures from 65-75 degrees.
  • Something to change into for the Soiree after!

NOTE: There will be no nudity or genital exposure allowed throughout the event.
