About Dr Russell Stambaugh…
“I was a clinical psychologist in private practice until 2015. I was a member of the American Association of Sxuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists since 1995, and maintained a Diplomate in Sx Therapy from 2005-2019. I served in AASECT leadership 2000-18, including service as a Director 2004-2009. In June, 2015, I was awarded the Distinguished Service to AASECT Award for the second time. I chaired AASECT AltSx Special Interest Group from 2011-15. In May of 2017, I was jointly awarded a ‘lifetime achievement award in training, research and advocacy’ by The National Coalition of Sxual Freedom (NCSF) and The Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sxualities (CARAS). It has since been renamed the Race Bannon Advocacy Award. In 2018 I was named to the Board of NCSF.(2018-present).
I have been studying sxual deviance, sxual variation, and the psychology of sxuality for 33 years. I retired in 2015 due to stage 3 lung cancer, which I have survived for 6+ years. Before taking graduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Michigan, I served as a confederate of the experimenter in prisoners dilemma experiments, managed a head store, was third author in the first use of social survey methodology on a governmental elite, and served as site coordinator for Origins ’78, the premier national wargaming convention.

I live a quiet life in Ann Arbor with my spouse of 37 years and Khatze where we diligently practice social distancing. We have a grown daughter who listened to our glowing reports of California and moved there to teach science. In our defense, this was before they decided to burn it down!
