Midori is a Creative Resident at The Ruby, a collective of creative women, trans women, femmes, and nonbinary people that values empathy and education.
This special members only event will bring people into her studio, she will share the stories and inspirations that influence her work while giving a personal tour of her current exhibition.
Midori’s work explores ideas of memory formation and creation of personal mythology. Her austere color palate and technical control contrasts with textural chaos and intentional use of chance as a creative force. She delights in using found objects, such as fire scarred fallen trees, reclaimed material like factory discarded industrial rope, and common technology like Zoom collaboration tools.
AZ Gallery and Studios is a space made possible by Peninsula Art Foundation – The non-profit organization negotiated with the Tanforan Mall to convert empty storefronts in a dying mall into artists’ studios, exhibition space, and classrooms.
