Consent Dojo 34: Margaret Andersen

Disability + Intimacy: How Disability affects dating, kink, & consent.

For this 34th edition of the Consent Dojo, Midori is joined by Margaret Andersen, a disabled designer, tech journalist, and co-founder of TouchBot to discuss how disability affects dating, kink, and consent.

As of 2023, up to 1 in 4 adults in the United States have some type of disability.[1]

Disability is a diverse experience and can be acquired at any point in our lives. As such, how we experience pleasure may shift, as well as our awareness of how ableism impacts our relationships with others and with ourselves.

Explore topics such as…

  • How ableism impacts dating and consent for people with disabilities.
  • What Disability Justice can teach us about sex and disability, and unlearning internalized ableism.
  • How BDSM can empower people with disabilities.
  • Creative ways to customize solo and partnered play to make it more accessible.
  • How to talk to your partner about your, or their, disabilities in a way that builds intimacy.

Bring your curiosity and questions for Q + A after the conversation!

Style: Conversation + Q&A
Props: Bring note-taking tools
Duration: 60-90 minutes

Consent Dojo is always free.

Join us Live on Zoom followed by Q & A or watch the replays on YouTube.
